Confidence Building Workshop – Spotlight organised by Ganga Hospital in association with Smile Train India for children with cleft lip and palate

Cleft lip and palate is a birth condition affecting 1:700 children globally. While early diagnosis and timely intervention can significantly improve their appearance, speech, nutrition, and overall confidence, many children and families still struggle due to a lack of awareness or access to comprehensive care.

Ganga Hospital in partnership with Smile Train, has been a beacon of hope for cleft children for the past 18 years. With over 2,200 life-changing surgeries performed, the hospital has transformed not just Smiles but entire Lives — helping around 1800 children reintegrate into society with dignity and confidence. Their comprehensive approach includes surgical repair, speech therapy, nutrition counseling, and psychological support, ensuring holistic care for every child.

On May 29, 2025, the Department of Plastic, Hand and Reconstructive Microsurgery, Maxillofacial Surgery and Burns Surgery at Ganga Hospital in collaboration with Smile Train India hosted a deeply inspiring transformative motivational workshop called “SPOTLIGHT”aimed at motivating and uplifting individuals with cleft lip and palate and their families. This event aimed to empower participants by fostering self confidence and leadership skills. The program was packed by fun filled inspirational workshops on Art & Craft, Story and role play and Future ready conducted by professionals Ms. Amudha a renowned Storyteller, Mr. Sezhiyan Bharathi Master Corporate Trainer and Mrs. Kavitha Art Therapist to motivate the children.

The event was graced by renowned professionals Dr. Pramod, Senior Scientist (SACON), Ms. Mrithika Santhoshini. Film Director, Author who spoke to the children about believing in ones own capabilities rather than seeking appreciation or validation from others.
